My wife and I went out for a good exercise ride this afternoon, taking one of our longer country routes. We started north toward Highway 18, then turned east onto 250th before looping south toward the cemetery near Niles and heading back home.
It was a solid ride — 11.3 miles in 1 hour and 1 minute — but the wind and the hills definitely made us work for it. The stretch heading south was the toughest, with a steady headwind that made each climb feel a little steeper than usual. Still, we pushed through it and kept a steady pace.
This wasn’t just a relaxed ride to enjoy the scenery. It was one of those rides that reminds you why cycling is such good exercise — legs burning, lungs working, and that satisfying feeling when you crest the last hill and know home isn’t far.
By the end, we were both tired but in the best way. Another ride in the books, another few miles toward better fitness — and as always, time well spent together on the road.
