With the roads around our house still damp from the recent weather, Lynda and I decided to take our midweek ride out to Niles Road. It wasn’t our first choice — we usually prefer routes with a few twists and turns — but sometimes a straight, steady stretch of pavement is exactly what you need to just get the miles in.
We logged 10 miles in about 52 minutes, keeping a comfortable pace while enjoying the cooler evening air. Niles Road doesn’t have the same scenery or variety as some of our other routes, but it gave us a chance to focus more on rhythm and consistency.
Even if the ride felt a little more “routine” than our usual adventures, we still found ourselves laughing, pushing each other, and simply enjoying the chance to get outside together. At the end of the day, not every ride has to be epic — sometimes it’s about showing up, turning the pedals, and being glad you did.
Here’s to the next one — hopefully on some twistier, more scenic roads!
